What’s up
guys? Today I am going to tell you the pros
and cons of rooting Android device. But before that you should know what rooting
is. Well, it is pretty simple. Basically, it gives yourself root permissions on
your phone. Now think of running programs on windows as administrator or jail
breaking your iPod or iPhone. Just like that, it is giving you more privileges
and access variety of features on your phones which are blocked by the carrier
or by the manufacturer of your phone.
With every good thing
there is a bad side. Same for rooting too, it also has a darker side. Well, for
a change let us start analyzing the cons one by one first.
1) RISK OF MESSING UP YOUR PHONE
This is just like having an administrator access just like
windows. You can modify anything. And that can lead to some bad stuffs. Also, there might be some apps taking
advantages of bricking down your phone and they could leave you with a phone
that doesn’t function.
2) NO MANUFACTURER SUPPORT

Yes, smart phone manufactures doesn’t support rooting android and they don’t want you to do this. So rooting is just like moving forward with your warranty left behind.
Whenever you are in need of your manufacturer support, they
are not likely to support you. They just blame the rooting process for any
problems you may have with your device.
3) NO OTA UPDATES
Sometimes you are more likely to get the latest update for
your device over the air from your smart phone without the need of having a
computer to start the update process.
If you are rooted you will still get the notification in
your notification bar, but there is no guarantee that you can update it, it may fail. Sometimes it
is gonna succeed if you remove certain manufacturer programs. Just keep this is mind and try something like cyanogen
mode so that you can still get the latest firmware.
Now there are a
lot of cool things that you can do once you root your phone and I will be going
over some of the top features and things you can do if you root your smart
phone. So let us move on to the pros.
1) CUSTOM ROMS
The majority of the people that I know
root Android because they are allowed to install all kinds of cool softwares on
their device including the Cyanogenmod. Most of the smart phone manufacturers take
too much of time to provide the latest update for the phone, but sadly by the
time another new firmware would be launched. But with root access you can
actually update to any firmware that you
choose from the available custom ROMs and cyanogenmod to get all the latest
features updated.
2) OVER CLOCKING
Overclocking
helps to boost your Android smart phone performance. By default, Android
handsets has a fixed frequency and the users cannot adjust it. But after
rooting, there are no limits so that one could easily adjust CPU frequency and
speed to obtain better performance.
For example, by Overclocking
you can actually limit the amount of power your phone gets thereby helping you
save more battery juice.
3) ‘NO’ TO ADS

Yes, this can only be done with root access. Probably, What annoy’s us most is the ads displayed during browsing, playing certain games or using some sort of app. The one and only one way to get rid of this is to root your Android smart phone. There are plenty of apps available in the market capable of blocking ads providing seamless ads free browsing and gaming experience. Adblock plus, Adaway, AirpushAd detector are some of the best root apps that falls under this category.
4) BETTER BATTERY LIFE AND PERFORMANCE

Yes, most of the
recent smart phones in real cannot offer a full day battery life with an average
usage. Even when the screen is turned off, there may be plenty of apps running in
the background that can easily eat up your battery. But to overcome these
problems, rooting can help you with certain root apps like setCPU that can squeeze
the most out of your battery juice. This is one among the #1 rooted apps that
can boost your battery performance. SetCPU allows you to choose minimum and
maximum clock rates, offers you with a variety of profiles to choose from under
specific voltage and clock settings.
5) REMOVE PRE INSTALLED APPS
Of course, this
is gonna be the main reason why many of the Android users roots their smart
phones. Android smart phones come pre loaded with lots of applications that you
will never gonna use and even they cannot be uninstalled too. This is the main
thing which I hate.
When you root your
device, you can either install a custom ROM without any pre loaded apps or
manually delete these applications. There is no need to worry about those apps
and by removing unwanted pre installed
apps you are able to use cleaner user interface as well as you get lots more of
free space.
6) WIDE VARIETY OF APPS
You can download tons of new apps that can only be used with
root permissions. For example, you can have some certain backup apps like
titanium backup which provide more advanced backup options, screen recorders
etc.
Although you get
plenty of apps without rooting Android phone, what makes root apps different
is that it provides more advanced options and help you dig deeper.
WIND UP
So that’s all
friends. I hope after reading this article you became much more aware of the
good and bad sides of rooting your Android smartphone. Next is your choice to
root or not to root and is left for you. If you have any doubts or any other
points that I missed and are to be included here, please let me know it through

nice day ahead :)
